The Finishing Touch
Recently we had the privilege of helping two families create their perfect space to call home. In fact, I visited one today and it is all but finished. Strike up the band and throw the confetti! (Insert all the feels emojis!) The cabinetry is stunning, the pendants are installed, the hardware is in place, and Richard is working through the final details; or is he?
As we walked through, Richard said something while walking through that resonated with me.
“Now all it needs is their special touches to finish it”.
And he’s right.
After months of hard work planning, designing, and construction, the kitchen is complete… but not truly finished until the homeowners make it their own. It’s the family photos, favorite cookbooks, meaningful pieces, and everyday routines that transform a beautifully remodeled space into a home.
Designing With the End in Mind
This is where thoughtful planning makes all the difference. At Clearcut & Co., we don’t simply consider how a kitchen will look. We think about how our clients will actually live in it. During the design process, we consider daily routines, storage needs, entertaining, cooking habits, and even the personal items that need a special place.
Maybe it’s dedicated storage for those large pots, specialty cabinetry for their modest wine collection, or an open shelf designed for a favorite piece of pottery. We planned for it. Thinking through these details before construction begins allows us to create a kitchen that feels intentional from the moment our clients move back into the space.
It’s Your Home. Make it Yours.
This is something we say getting people to think through the planning phase. In fact I’ve written a blog on this phrase alone. But it is more than that. It is what is needed in the end to make the designer kitchen feel like home. You can have the most beautiful kitchen ever, but it can still feel cold and distant. So go ahead and display your grandma’s cookware. Put that piece of pottery that you purchased years ago on the shelf designed for it.
We’re taking down the lock box and handing over the keys. It’s your home. Make it yours (again).
